“Despite favorable conditions in the external sector, challenges persist in the financial sector: Governor.”
Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Mahaprasad Adhikari, has stated that despite favorable conditions in the external sector, there are ongoing challenges in the financial sector.

He made these remarks at the program titled “Current Challenges and Future Directions of the Economy,” organized by the Nepal Civil Service Organization at the Nepal Rastra Bank today. He mentioned that although the financial sector is currently performing well, it still faces significant challenges in the coming days. He stated, “Although our economy is currently benefiting from the external sector, the financial sector continues to face challenges.” He also emphasized the need to transform the economy’s dependence on external factors to achieve economic self-reliance.
He highlighted the necessity for structural reforms to address the situation where domestic production is declining, reliance on imported goods is increasing, and revenue collection is dependent on imports. He further stated, “In particular, agriculture needs to be prioritized, and strategic measures need to be taken based on a well-thought-out plan. Due to frequent political changes, we need to adjust ourselves to these circumstances.”
